Miracle-Gro® Tree & Shrub Plant Food Spikes can be used to feed your trees, which are your largest and most impressive plants. The amount of available nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K), which are essential nutrients for plants to thrive, is represented by the NPK ratio of 15-5-10 in this plant food spike. These spikes of fertilizer deliver nutrients directly to the roots of trees, where they are most needed. Additionally, these spikes of tree fertilizer encourage vibrant foliage and color. These plant food spikes are great for acid-loving plants as well as for deciduous, flowering, and evergreen trees and shrubs. For best results, apply once a season in spring and fall. To use, place the plastic cap that comes with the spike on top of it and drive it into the wet ground around the tree or shrub in the direction of the drip line (as depicted on the label). Continue driving the spike two inches below the surface of the soil after removing the plastic cap. The distance between spikes should be at least 3 feet. Insert spikes two feet from the tree or shrub’s center for small trees and shrubs with a drip line closer than two feet.
